I began this graphic design business in 2021, with the drive and ambition to help others make their design dreams come true. Whether it’s wedding invitations that help capture the essence of your perfect day, or branding that helps bring new life to that small business you’ve always dreamed of owning, Designed by Dae can make it happen!
Growing up, I was always creative and artsy. Painting, drawing, writing – I loved it all. When I got older and discovered drawing digitally, I was hooked! I saw that some people were even taking their digital art, turning it into various products, and selling them as a side hustle. I thought, “Wow, I want to do that!” So on January 1st, 2021, I opened an Etsy shop called Designed by Dae, where I designed and made my vinyl stickers. I was so excited I could hardly stand it!
However, that very same day, something happened in our community that left everyone heartbroken. A tragedy like none of us had ever known. The lives of two very beloved young men were cut short, and the lives of those around them were shaken. I never imagined I could see so many tears, feel so much heartache, and see our community come together for each other the way that I did during that time. Everyone was broken, but still remaining so strong.
Wanting to honor them in any way I could, I reached out to the families and friends of the boys and asked for permission to make a memorial sticker. They agreed, and I began working on the design immediately. With the help of some wonderful friends, we produced and gave out over three hundred stickers in memory of those boys. Those stickers brought a little bit of light back into a broken community and seeing the smiles they brought to so many faces after such a terrible tragedy made my heart full. It wasn’t a big thing, but it was a special thing that I will never forget, and hopefully neither will they.
After that, I knew this small business of mine wasn’t going to be just some random “side hustle” I did for extra money. I realized then that I wanted to do more than just sell a few stickers – I wanted to bring people together and create something that made a difference. Over the past few years, I’ve designed additional memorial stickers, created branding for various businesses, and helped brides create the perfect wedding invitations for their special day. I’ve also designed book covers, company banners, websites, and photo books. To say that I love what I get to do every day is an understatement.
